Redskins release 10 players
The Washington Redskins have cut 10 players, and several of them happen to be marquee names.
The most notable players released are wide receiver Antwan Randle El, cornerback Fred Smoot, and defensive tackle Cornelius Griffin.
Also released were offensive lineman Randy Thomas, backup quarterback Todd Collins, and backup running backs Ladell Bells and Rock Cartwright.
The moves signal a major change in philosophy for the Redskins, who now appear to be heading in the right direction.
The only way the team is going to fix the mess that has been going on for a decade now is to gut the roster and start almost from scratch.
