Skins Fall to Pats in Preseason

Jason Campbell may have eased Redskins’ fans fears slightly one week after a dismal one-for-seven performance, as Campbell completed 13-of-22 passes for 209 yards in the Redskins’ 27-24 loss to the New England Patriots on Friday night at FedEx Field.

Campbell started hot, going a perfect 4-for-4 on the opening drive that ended with a one-yard run from RB Marcus Mason. After three consecutive three-and-outs, Campbell led the Skins down the field again, this time capping the drive with his own four yard run.

“I was very pleased,” coach Jim Zorn said. “He was very much into the game. He was competing hard and doing the things that you want. We missed on a couple of long ones, but he came back and was running the show.”

The starters left the field tied 17-17 and left the outcome up to the backups. Backup QB Colt Brennan finished 6-of-12 for 81 yards, with one TD and one INT returned for six on the other end.
